I’m BP, you can just call me Zach. I am a Computer Science major, closing in on graduation. Thoughout my time within uni, I’ve been hosting a website. But, with each revision, I’ve always ended up letting it go awry.
Wtih this iteration of the site, I hope that HUGO helps with both upkeep and blogging.
I’ve been cooking in the kitchen for the past month. I’ve been meaning to make use of my 3D printer to produce a product. After getting back into Guitar Hero, through Clone Hero, I’ve realized the game really relies on the controller that comes with it. While I do own a GH controller, because it’s made for the XBOX 360, it requires a dongle in order to interact with my PC. At the same time, if I wanted to get a plug-and-play GH controller, it would cost +$100, as the only available models are over a decade old, and in high demand within the community. The controller is still any other X-Input, only with the buttons moved to look more like a guitar, with that I had an idea.
After going through four years of Comp-Sci at Uni, I’ve coined “The 2 F’s Law”. It’s a law, not a theory, as I still have not had an instance of it being wrong, but the law states “All successful Computer Scientists must either be a Furry or a Fa-” I’m gonna stop myself there, you get the point. I’ve walked into classes where people had furry stickers on their laptops, hell this one ballsy mofo has a singular Bad Dragon sticker on his laptop, taking up a third of the real estate. This one time when I had a project partner, he was going to show me something on his cloud storage, and I could see his avian-sona ref sheet poking out. And I have proof of the opposite. Two of my closest friends started out in Computer Science when they went to college, but neither of them fit the criteria. As such, they ended up switching majors. Furries are fucking everywhere! Hell, you’re looking at one! Now, I don’t reeeealy consider myself a furry, but just say I do cause liking Pokemons is close enough.
I’ve had a bunch of business ideas over the years, so I’ve decided to post them onto here, for me to flesh our or to get stolen. And if you do end of stealing this idea, at least give me some royalties! >:P
Alright, get this. So, when it comes to indie game studios, developing traditional games, it takes a lot of time and resource to make a game that is fleshed out and complex. Arcade games, on the other hand, are made to be simple. Any Joe-Shmoe should be able to walk up to a machine, button mash, and enjoy himself. While developing arcade games are easier, the complexity comes from the hardware side of the product. Arcade cabinets are nearly always unique to the game, bulky, and expensive. As such, no indie company in the world would ever want to tap into the arcade market. Also because of its slow death
I’ve always been going back and fourth on playing Xonotic. It’s a damn fun game, and a real party favor, as I’ve even managed to host a few LAN parties.
With how much Zoomers love their fast paced games, with no long term story (I’m guilty of playing Rougelikes all the time too), I’m surprised the Arena Shooter genre still cannot get a footing as a common game played. Whenever I open up the server browser, it’s DEAD dead! Only stable server is an instagib CTF 24/7 game. The HL2:DM community is more alive than this! (SOCAL #1!! BEST HL2:DM SERVER 2018!)
It’s been nearly four months since the release of Counter-Strike 2, leading to the quick death of CS:GO. And after playing the new game for some time, I really have not been enjoying it.
The new subtick system makes the game feel more like you’re playing on ice. Along with this, while the new graphics are nice, my 2016-era hardware doesn’t enjoy it. This hardware requirement is even worse with modding!
As I am writing this, I have six more hours until I need to get up for work. Instead of going to bed at a reasonable time, I have instead decided to work on my site’s theme. It’s based off of the theme used for Source Engine’s tools. While Gold Source’s is much more recognizable, with the olive green coloring scheme, it’s a bit too harsh on the eyes for me, personally.
I’ve been wanting to deploy a site which is much easier to manage and develop on, compared to my previous website. While the site’s previous idea was out there, with a cool video in the middle, the main menu buttons on the left, and the actual posts popping up on the right side of the screen. It was absolutely TERRIBLE for mobile users, and even worse for anyone on integrated graphics cards.
